Kalimpong, April 14:

The Kalimpong Krishak Kalyan Sangathan (KKKS) today celebrated its 6th foundation day anniversary. The KKKS was formed in the year 2007 by including 70 Farmers Club of the Darjeeling district. Prior to formation 12 farmers had started the Farmers Club in 2005.

Today’s programme was held under the presidentship of Bina Rai, president of KKKS while Dr Anos Das Pradhan, national president of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh (BGP) presided over as the chief guest and RP Gurung was the guest of honour.

The KKKS general secretary, Vishnu Chettri presented the annual report of 2012-13. The day also witnessed 9 farmers receiving the Krishak Gaurav Samman. The said award was initiated by the KKKS as recognition to those farmers who have achieved on their own. The sangathan also honoured the banks, organizations and departments linked with them.
